The problem we are working on

Comfortable pants are sold on adjectives. “Buttery soft”, “flattering”, “true to size” - none of which tell you whether the front rise will sit under your ribs, or whether a size 14 will pull up over a 44-inch hip. The measurements that answer those questions exist, but they are scattered, inconsistently published and rarely compared.

So we collect them, record where each one came from and when, and put them in one place where they can be compared.

Who this is for

• Women in their forties, fifties and sixties who want comfort without looking like they gave up
• Petite and tall bodies, for whom the length is the whole problem
• Plus and curvy bodies, where the waist-to-hip ratio decides everything
• Anyone who needs to sit in the same pants for eight hours, on a flight or at a desk

What we publish

• Inseam, front rise, back rise, waist and hip per size, in inches, with a verification date
• Waistband construction, pocket type, compression level and opacity
• Test sessions: hours worn, washes, ordered size against usual size, kept or returned
• The evidence level behind every entry, and a confidence percentage

What we will not publish

• A test result for a product nobody wore
• A star rating we did not collect
• A tester who does not exist
• A price without the date we last confirmed it
• Hundreds of automatically generated pages to fill a keyword list

How we pay for it

Affiliate commissions and, potentially, display advertising. Neither can move a score - see the affiliate disclosure for how that separation is enforced, and the methodology for how scores are computed.

Where we are early

This site is in its first phase. The database schema, the scoring engine and the editorial controls are complete; the catalogue of verified products is still being built. Where we have no data, the page says so instead of filling the gap. That is a deliberate choice and it is the reason to trust the numbers that are there.
